Here is a photo of Cara, Frank, and me in Philadelphia (PA) on June 19, 2009, the day Cara graduated from The Art Institute of Philadelphia with a Bachelors of Science degree in Fashion Marketing. As a student at AI she studied abroad for three weeks in Spain and completed two internships in New York City, one at Sergio Rossi Shoes, and the other at Marie Claire Magazine.

While at Marie Claire Magazine Cara worked in what is called “the closet” where they pull the clothes for the many photo shoots. Thus far Cara has been the only student From AI to attain an internship at Marie Claire Magazine, and upon completing her time at the magazine she was the only intern to receive a written letter from Lisa Tam praising Cara’s dedication to her work. Cara would get up between 4 and 4:30 am each day to leave Philadelphia by 6 am so that she would get to New York City by 9:30 am. And in the evenings she would not get home until after 11 pm, sometimes later.

Another interesting experience for Cara came by way of a reality show called Running In Heels about the interns working at the Marie Claire. It aired in March on the Style Network and was taped while she worked there. Cara was never on camera but was often in the background doing the same type of work as the girls featured on the show. She called me on many occasions while running an errand or picking up designer clothes for the photo shoots. Along with more experienced professionals Cara also had the privilege to work with Nina Garcia, a star on the television show Project Runway, and the new fashion editor at Marie Claire.

Since graduating Cara has decided to continue her education and is now attending Philadelphia University in pursuit of a Masters in Business Administration. As a student in this program she is working in sales at the radio station WMMR. Very soon she will be departing on a week-long business trip to India with her class. Cara is due to graduate in May of 2010. I will keep you updated on her accomplishments, and I would again like thank the Helen Frank-Roush Scholarship for helping Cara reach her goals in life.

As you can tell I feel very blessed by Cara’s accomplishments.
